INTRODUCTION

When muscles contract, they cause creases in the skin, and this is what forms a line or wrinkle. Initially these lines are only visible when we use the muscles to make facial expressions, for example when we frown, raise our eyebrows, squint, or smile. Eventually these lines become permanent and are noticeable even we aren’t making these expressions.

Anti-wrinkle treatment works by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for making these facial expressions and softening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. If the lines are already visible, treatment will help smooth the appearance of the lines, but might not make them disappear completely.

ADVANCED TREATMENTS

Whilst the upper face areas are the most commonly administered treatments, wrinkles can form by muscles contracting elsewhere on the face such as the bunny lines, either side of the nose or smoker’s lines, around the mouth.

In some areas, such as the brow or neck, relaxing the muscles can have a lifting effect. These are known as a chemical brow lift and Nefertiti neck lift (Platysmal bands)

In the lower face, relaxing overactive muscles can improve the appearance of a gummy smile, or downturned corners of the mouth.

Treatment to the Masseter muscles can have a jawline slimming effect. This treatment is complemented well by lower facial contouring to add more structure and definition. Read more about this in the packages section.

Botulinum toxin can also be administered in the armpit to help reduce excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis.

WHAT IS ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT?

At Cantour Cosmetics we use Botulinum toxin, which is a prescription only medication and should be administered by a trained healthcare professional.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

The procedure takes approximately 15 minutes, depending on the number of areas treated and effects can last between 3-6 months.

DOES ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENT HURT?

The procedure should not be painful but may cause some local discomfort. Your experience matters to us, and we are proud to say that to try and minimise this as much as possible we use the smallest needles available.

IS THERE ANY FOLLOW-UP AFTER MY TREATMENT?

Everybody is unique and that goes for your response to anti-wrinkle treatment too. A complementary two week review, with the inclusion of any additional treatment that may be required, comes as standard to ensure you are as happy as possible with the results.
