DERMAL FILLER
INTRODUCTION
Dermal filler is a Hyaluronic acid based gel-like substance that can be injected at different depths into different areas of the face, depending on the desired outcome.
Hyaluronic acid naturally occurs in the body and is important in the production of collagen and elastin, all of which are in abundance in our youth and are responsible for firm, plump and hydrated skin. As we age our body produces less hyaluronic acid and as a result our skin loses its volume and moisture. This causes the skin to sag and with this, lines and wrinkles develop.
Some deeper lines such as Nasolabial folds, Marionette lines and some deep smoker’s lines, cannot be improved with anti-wrinkle treatment.
However dermal filler can be used to soften and so improve their appearance.

In the lips, dermal filler can be used to subtly enhance your natural lip shape, or create fullness if there is a lack of volume.

This area of aesthetics really is where science meets art. As we age we naturally lose volume from our fat pads located under our skin and this can change the appearance of our face over time.
A high density dermal filler can be used in certain areas to mimic bone structure. These properties allow us to restore volume loss in areas such as the cheek.
Dermal filler can also be used to sculpt and re-define the jawline and chin. A widened and more angulated jawline can be created for a more masculine appearance whereas elongating the chin can re-create more feminine proportions.

WHAT IS DERMAL FILLER?
At Cantour Cosmetics we use different filler densities depending on the area of the face we are enhancing. All dermal fillers we use are safe and can be dissolved.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
The procedure takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the number of areas treated and effects can last between 6-18 months.
DOES DERMAL FILLER HURT?
The procedure should not be painful but may cause some local discomfort. We use a numbing cream with local anaesthetic in it applied directly to the skin, and there is anaesthetic in the filler itself.
IS THERE ANY FOLLOW-UP AFTER MY TREATMENT?
Everybody is unique and that goes for your response to dermal filler treatment too. A complementary two week review comes as standard at which time we can discuss any further treatments you might want.
